Any business in any industry needs to keep its financial records in order and compliant with the law. For this reason, Bookkeepers are an essential component for small businesses to thrive. As a Bookkeeper, you will help the company or clients you work with by organising their business finances and keeping them in line with legislation, as well as finding and solving any financial issues.
You will make sure all of their financial transactions and documents in order so that the leaders and stakeholders in the business can have swift access to the financial data they need to make strategic decisions. In having a readily available picture of the financial health of the business, business owners can also see how it is performing and make amendments if necessary.
By becoming a qualified Bookkeeper, you can take your career around the world and align your job with other passions and interests. With these AAT qualifications to your name, you will have the confidence and credibility to pursue senior bookkeeping roles in any business or set out on your own.
Successful Bookkeepers typically have a certain set of skills and personality traits. In managing a business’s important financial information and documentation, you must be highly organised. You also need a keen eye for detail to spot anything that doesn’t add up or needs to be addressed.
To keep records in place and up to date, you will also need to be confident with technology since most companies use online bookkeeping and accounting software.
As a large focus of your role is checking for problems in financial data and finding solutions to overcome them, you must also have an analytical mind and strong problem-solving abilities. There is a critical need for effective communication skills too since you will need to explain your progress and activities to clients in layman's terms.
If you have multiple clients as a Bookkeeper, you will need to be able to multitask effectively and should you run a team as a senior or self-employed Bookkeeper, you will also need to be a confident leader.
Despite being a highly technical role, degree-level study or specific qualifications aren’t required to become a Bookkeeper. Many people successfully work as a Bookkeeper after teaching themselves the processes required in the role.
Bookkeeping roles are, however, highly coveted since they typically offer a high level of flexibility and job security. In this instance, you will find that having relevant bookkeeping qualifications will help you stand out against the competition. Not to mention bookkeeping qualifications will give you the skills you need to hit the ground running in your career.
By completing both bookkeeping courses in this AAT bundle, you will not only gain the knowledge and skills that will get you job ready, but the advanced abilities and expertise that will fast-track your career progression.

SUCCESS STORIES

I chose to study with learndirect Careers because due to the nature of my previous job (working shifts within the care industry), I couldn’t commit to attending classes regularly at a traditional college. I still wanted to gain my Health and Social Care (Adults) Diploma QCF Level 3 and so learndirect Careers’s distance learning course was the perfect solution.Dawn Webb

I knew that I wanted to return to education, but I needed to find a college that offered distance learning qualifications. I had to fit studying around my family life and work commitments. I chose learndirect Careers because my course could be completed entirely online, without having to attend any timetabled sessions. My initial enquiry was responded to very quickly by learndirect Careers and all the staff that I have dealt with have been extremely friendly.Joy Bailey

I enjoyed the course a lot and all the modules were informative. It has made me fall in love with hospitality even more now that I have the knowledge that I need. I’m looking forward to starting a job in the industry.Celeste Young

The course was very interesting and explained everything clearly using the latest materials. I am a hotelier, but several of the topics were new for me, and I enjoyed learning them with learndirect.Regulthafus Andrikus
