This lesson will help you to determine what you want to achieve from your studies and your support with us. It’s important to make sure those goals are realistic and achievable.
We’ll teach you the SMART method to goal setting.
Career Achievement Goals
Lesson 2 will help you to set goals around what you want to achieve from your career. It will also help you network, use social media correctly (and appropriately) and includes tips to maintain your physical and mental wellbeing.
LinkedIn allows you to build a network of connections from whom you can learn from and potentially learn about opportunities.
It also serves as an online CV, giving recruiters and hiring managers the opportunity to view your profile and get in touch with opportunities that may be a good fit.
This lesson will teach you how to create a strong profile.
With a social media presence, it’s always better to look the part, rather than being at a party. Professional headshots will help improve your social media profiles. This lesson takes you through how to take a professional-looking headshot for your LinkedIn profile.
Lesson five is essential. CV building can be daunting, especially if you have never written one before. Or updating your CV seems like an insurmountable task. This lesson will help you get your CV ready to start applying for roles.
While some jobs or recruiters merely require a CV, many insist on the completion of an application form. While intimidating, they are merely a way for an employer to get all the information they need in the way they want it.
This lesson will teach you how to write an effective application to maximise your chances of getting shortlisted for interview.
Tips for Searching for Your Ideal Role
Knowing how to use job boards effectively allows you to find the roles you want to apply for.
This lesson teaches you how to optimise your CV to make it as search-friendly as possible.
You will also learn how to search for jobs effectively and apply.
Common Interview Questions
Lesson eight takes you through the 20 most common interview questions and outlines the best way to answer them.
This essential prep will boost your confidence ahead of any interviews you get.
The most common competency-based interview questions
Building on your previous lesson, lesson nine covers crucial competency-based interview questions.
Competency-based questions cover everything from good customer service to decision making. They challenge you to give examples of how you’ve performed well in these areas. This lesson will help you identify the key pieces of information to form your answers.
How to handle competency-based interview questions
Whereas lesson nine teaches you to answer competency-based questions, lesson ten teaches you how to stay calm under pressure.
This lesson takes you through how the interviews are structured, what employers look for and how to approach your answers.
Progression and Promotion
The last lesson in the course teaches you how to effectively progress in your new role. It focuses on how to demonstrate your value and how to identify new skills and knowledge you need to take that next step.
